Peter Stohrer - Enterventionale #2020

Exhibition Details

Exhibition Description

In the midst of the exhibition area “Macht und Mächte”, in the thematic room “Herrschaft und Repräsentation im Rheinland”, several works by the now deceased artist Peter Stohrer will be exhibited as part of the ENTERVENTIONALE. In the abundance of exhibits, the objects unfold a subversive effect on the exhibition, sometimes expansive like “Taurus”, sometimes reserved like “Cubus”:
They “enervate” the insignia of the powerful and the representation of power. Stohrer’s “Painted Bodies” combine expansive sculpture and two-dimensional painting.

Body and colour reach into the space, sounding it out like miniature architectures. In the context of the theme “Power and Might”, his works once again raise the question of how space is divided up, not only in an architectural sense, but also in a political sense. Surrounded by exhibits that demonstrate power and domination in the history of the Rhineland, this aspect takes on a concrete meaning: How was (living) space divided up in the course of history? How did power relations affect space, place, home and identity?
